Yes the Latest Manufacturing change has come about to improve production costs of the latest Wii Consoles in the Form of a Modified Wii Drive board being hailed Wii D2C2 or Wii D2C-2. Found in Wii Consoles with a Serial Number of LAH1045*** or LAH 105*** and higher .

A. D2C Chip is the name of the DVD drive chip on the Wii console - it will only play games from the Country you bought the Wii- eg. an Australian PAL Wii can play shop bought original PAL Games.
By installing a Mod-chip in the Wii like "ARGON" and "D2Pro" will enable the console to play games from all regions- Europe, Japan, USA ( NTSC Wii Games ) and still Australia ( PAL Wii Games ) and make legal backup Wii games or copies to play.

You dont even need wire- correct temp and solder type will allow bridge and make new legs

Q. OI YOU !!! MODCHIP-WIZARD !!! I have a Wii which I bought in the United states. What do I need to do in order to be able to play it in Australia? Do I need a converter? Please tell me, I have been confused for so long.
Also: Can I play games bought in Australia on this Wii or do I need a freeloader?

A. Some Wii Consoles are Multi Voltage which means they can use both 110V and 240V voltage - Just check the Sticker on the Wii or check the instruction manual for your Wii console specifications - a USA Wii console can use an Australian Wii Power Pack ! .
The best way to play Australian Wii games on your USA console is the ARGON Wii mod chip.
Freeloader for Wii - known as Wiiloader - will not play backup games and latest Wii updates may render the disc non functional - some clients report using Freeloader and a modchip actually helps some out of region back ups to play as well that did not work with just a chip - so they work together quite well.

I am currently running Wii Menu 3.2 (latest), my friend lent me ''Battalion Wars 2' and 'super smash bros brawl' in NTSC-Japan, i understood that D2Pro can playback other region games with 19 wires but as soon as i insert the disc 'super smash bros brawl' NTSC japan into my PAL Wii console it asked me to perform a software upgrade from the game disc.... i just want to know if its safe to perform the update from disc when the disc is from a different region to the console.
A. Yes you can patch the dash safely - with a game from a different Region or Same Region - This is the same for Wiikey , Wasabi, D2C ARGON , D2PRO chips for Wii - By patching the dash your Wii console will be able to play more Wii games by increasing compatibility. By Patching your Wii from a Game with a Different Region Code will change the video output settings of your Wii though - if you have a multi system TV this is Fine- If you need to change back just Insert a game with an Auto update from your region to override the previous out of region patch.
If something goes wrong during update- like you get more Wii menu channels - they can be removed with the following programs:

A. DVD updates are not as effective
for Wii mods on D2C--- Alternitavely Argon D2C we have up to 99% compatibility now- only through
USB updates-
( Argon Latest bios can now be updated by DVD or Flashable through USB )
Wasabi code is far from this compatibility and cannot have the flexibility of USB updates.

A. The Argon Modchip is the best modchip for new model wii consoles - So many developers and huge support new updates are available regularly here is the Argon Specs:
The Wasabi Wii D2C Chip newcomer has set a new standard in low wire count D2C mods
OK- all the reports are in on Wasabi- its 9 wire installation is not as stable as the Argon 1.8 Bios or the D2Pro bios - but these 2 chip manufacturers have both released working 9 wire Wasabi code Bios to run on them - but after testing the Wasabi chip on many consoles its performance is not on par with Argon 1.8 or D2pro - Wasabi not even able to function on some Newer Nintendo Wii consoles.
So the Wasabi code can be run on ARGON and D2pro with the addition of SPI Flash memory addition- ( latest versions of the D2Pro and Argon have Flash Memory built in ) but is not recommended for ultimate performance.

Q. Here !! Modchip-wizard Hi, I have a wiikey modded ntsc-u wii with 3.2U and 1.9s. I put in the
config 1.4 and turned off the updates and dev mode. After that, i
tried to load the Mario Kart WIi pal w/out brick blocker or anything
else. now, i can't read backups or originals, but i can get to the
menu. is there anything i can do? do i have to buy a new wiikey? or
can i just uninstall the wiikey chip and just play originals? thanks

No its OK- just use
Wiikey recovery disc 1.9B
then reinstall the Wiikey firmware again

download and burn wiikey Config 1.4 to DVD
insert and there will be a number of Config menu items-
SETUP AS FOLLOWS:
Disable Dev Mode - YES
Disable Wii Updates - NO
REGION FREE - YES
all others default

Turn off De flicker in game options
Toggle between 50-60Hz in wii options
This failing get a better chip or later bios flashed or better installation.
Q. Hey Modchip-wizard how do I make backups of my Wii games or can you even burn wii games?
A. The LG GDR-8164B is the only DVD-ROM drive available today that you install in your PC that can read Wii original Games. These DVD Rom Drives for PC can easily read both Dual layer and single layer formats. After ripping the data you can then use any Dual Layer DVD Burner to burn wii games to make backups of your original games. Verbatim Dual Layer and 4.7 discs work fine. Config Discs can be burned to single layer discs.
Not all NTSC original ( or copies ) games work on a modded Wii - If you want to make a backup of an NTSC original game for use on a modded PAL Australian Wii console the game must be PAL Patched before burning the game disc. Some downloadable Wii game Isos give the option of which region patch has been applied.
A.2 Wii SD Gecko can rip wii games directly to your SD card via the wii gecko and boot disc, the data can then be transferred onto your PC - after total game transfer to your PC which can be done in chunks any Dual layer DVD burner can copy / burn your Wii games. Verbatim brand D/L DVDs work fine.
How to know if your wii backup image file is okay before you burn it
- Wii ISOs are exactly 4.699.979.776 bytes. Some Wii ISOs are 4.700.012.544 bytes; they work fine.
- Wii ISOs with 4.736.698.368 bytes are scrambled images. They need to be unscrambled before burning.
- Gamecube ISOs must be exactly 1,459,978,240 bytes.
Wiikey for Wii DMS - Wii D2A - Wii D2B Chipsets
Q. Hey Modchip wizard I got my Wiikey installed but I get an error on the screen it wont load even my orgigal games- whats happening , man???
A. After Wiikey installation Please follow the following instructions to complete the setup process: ( only if required )
LATEST WIIKEY UPDATES:

some Consoles just insert the Wiikey config 1.4 Disc set to Region Free - YES. Then insert Wiikey 1.9 Update Disc. This is Tagged Wiikey update 1.9X
You can download the latest Config Discs from Wiikey.cn - if your Wiikey boots the Config disc but goes to an Error message which says- "ERROR turn off wii console and check Wii Manual for instructions." ( In this case even original wii games will not work - Likely you have a wii with D2B and 3.1e Wii dashboard - Then try the following:
1. Get hold of a HEX Edited version of the Wiikey GCOS Version - Config 1.3 Disc - this version will boot using a Gamecube controller after it loads eject the disc and insert the Wiikey.cn Update Disc 1.9 and using the gamecube controller hit - Start DVD - the menu will identify your Drive and load the 1.9 Update Disc to the Wiikey Setup menu - Follow the prompts and Wiikey configuration will complete.
2. Now insert the Wiikey Config 1.4 Disc ( no need for HEX Edited version at this point ) and boot to the Wiikey Configuration menu - select Region Free to YES ( Default is NO ) - Save the settings and reboot the Wii Console.
3. If this does not work - just reverse the order and insert the HEX Edited version GCOS disc to load- 1.4 Config Disc first set Region Free to yes then use the 1.9 update disc to complete the setup.
Wii D2C ARGON by Team Infectus
Q. Modchip-wizard I dont want to Brick my wii console - it was chipped by some modchippers in Sydney - they told me its got a clone wiikey chip- and another Australian website says that Clone Wiikey damage your wii and I should only buy Original with Hologram - now how can I prevent this happening?
A. Before playing NTSC Games and updating your dashboards do a quick internet search for games compatibility lists for Modded Wii Consoles and avoid the games that have caused problems for others until the correct patches are made- just type in "Wiikey games compatibility list" on your search engine - also there is nothing wrong with good quality Clone Wiikey chips - regardless of what other distributors will tell you - same as all products - ( TVs, Plasmas, Cars, phones etc - different Brand Names are Clones ) clones of many chips and products can be better quality than the originals.
Wherever possible use the Backup game from Your Wii consoles region:
Australian Pal Wii Console = use PAL Game isos
Japanese NTSC Wii Console = use JAP NTSC Game isos
USA NTSC Wii Console = use USA NTSC Game isos
Some NTSC games can easily be PAL Patched using the Wii PAL Patcher and with some running the Wii ISO through "Brick Blocker" will also prevent the Wii becoming inoperable.
Q. Oi ! Modchip-wizard I need to install a mod chip in my nintendo wii console but im not sure what chipset I have in my wii, I bought my wii when they first came out in Australia - its serial number is LAH1016 * is there any way you can tell which chipset is in my wii and which is the best wii mod chip to use?
A. There is no definite way of knowing which wii chip set you have in a Wii console unless you open the wii console and look on the DVD drive board itself - this is where the mod chip for wii consoles are installed - one of the the most common wii chipset types found in Australia are DMS chipset these are generally the first wii consoles sold in Australia so if you bought one of the first released nintendo wii consoles with a serial number LAH1012 or LAH1015 or LAH1016 or LAH1001 it is likely you have either a DMS or D2A or D2B chipset .
For this model Nintendo Wii we recommend any wii mod chip the most popular mods for wii are Cyclowiz wiikey or wii key Freewii Wii IC Wii SN.
Installation of a wii mod chip on a DMS chip Wii or D2A chip Wii is fairly easy and some mods do not even require wires to be used and are called wireless installations as solder can be dragged across the points on the Wii board from the wii mod chips to make contact. But great care should still be taken to install a Wiikey chip this way - as the contact points on the main board can easily be damaged.

A. Wii consoles with a serial no of LAH10215 might be a D2B chip set but we have come across many LAH10215 and LAH10216 with D2C chipsets -
After opening the Wii console and you find a D2B chipset inside we recommend any wii mod chip the most popular mods for wii are Cyclowiz wiikey or wii key Freewii Wii IC Wii SN. If D2C chips set - they are more involved modification as they require some soldering skills to install on the Wii.
Installation of a wii mod chip on a D2B chip Wii is fairly easy although some wii D2B chipsets have some modchip contact points missing on the board so you will need to follow the alternate wiring points found here Wii mod chip Install Diagrams.

Wii consoles with this serial number are likely D2C - Which means when you open the Wii the DVD Drive has a control chip called and Labelled "D2C" - The latest D2C mods for Wii consoles of this type is ARGON Chip by Team Infectus and D2Pro mod chip by the same company that brought us the Wiikey - which are all region modchips for Wii. These mods are the most popular because they are designed to make installation much easier than D2CKey.
D2PRO : a new chip from the manufacturers of D2CKey - for the D2C chipset called D2PRO. D2Pro Installation is only 15 wires, but is reported to be as stable as D2Ckey. D2PRO is using the Actel A3P architecture, and is fully upgradeable via D2prog, an external USB programmer. You can legally mod chip your game consoles and eat toasted sandwiches in Australia. In the USA there are a few states where chipping or modchips are considered illegal in terms of copyright laws.
Q. Im from Brisbane in Australia -If i put one of these mod or wiikey chips into my nintendo wii console will I be able to play original games my uncle bought from USA.
A. Yes - If you put a mod chip in your wii console you will be able to play about 95% of games from USA NTSC Japan NTSC Europe PAL games and Australian PAL games and Asian games NTSC and PAL. You can also use a DVD Burner to copy games as well but you must region patch the copy for it to work- for example if you own a PAL wii console and want to play a particular JAPANESE game you may try a PAL patch for the game for it to work. A very few NTSC Games Original or copy may corrupt the Wii dash making your Wii inoperable - so check the internet for " wiikey game compatibility lists" frequently.
Q. I live in Australia but own a USA Version Wii Console - Does any Wii mod mod chip work with US NTSC consoles?
A. Yes - quite a few mods work very well in USA Wii consoles - we recommend the Wiikey modchip for USA Version - for its ease of installation and reliable features - if its an early model and the ARGON or D2Pro chips if its a D2C wii console. ARGON Rocks !!
Q. My friend told me there is a special way to install a D2C wiikey and you only have to bridge points on the main board so there is no need to buy a D2C key mod chip which is more than twice the price of a standard wiikey mod.
A. Wii consoles with a serial no of LAH10215 and LAH10216 or higher are generally with Wii D2C chipsets -
As far as we understand it would be impossible to install a Wiikey on a D2C chipset wii dvd drive board as the configuration and instructions required for a mod to work on these models is entirely different to a standard wiikey mod. Even bridging the points as your friend suggested would not allow a wiikey modchip to function on a D2C Drive board.
Only D2C compatible wii mod chips that supports D2C chips will work. The most popular and well known one to date is the Wii D2C Key or D2CKey with an Actel control chip onboard or the Latest Wii D2C mod chip Argon - Wiiktus by Team Infectus- Argon Installation diagrams above - also D2Pro chip is compatible with Wii D2C DVD chips.
There is now a new chip available called "Wii Wasabi" which can be installed on Early model Wii consoles and the newer D2C Wii's as well.
