XENOGC REVIEWED: In response to obvious cons of this chip: "its not upgradable" and "it doesn't have any memory for apps". Being able to use all the soft mods, SDload, AR loader, bootable homebrew discs make up for these drawbacks (IMHO). Of course having a BBA becomes almost a requirement, but most of us have one of these already.... right! ;)
Think about this - take Ninjashell dol (which has EVERYTHING) and use it to create a bootable disc as described below by Xboxmodder. You now have a direct boot disc with MEMORY CARD MANAGER, GCOM 2.2, GCOS 1.5 and SDLOAD! Of course you can't use the play backup feature of any of these (it will crash), but why would you when you can direct boot!?
Besides the ease of booting back ups, I think the really exciting thing with the XenoGC is bootable discs. This could create a whole new way of looking at “playing” with a Gamecube. More on Xeno GC Here.

Here is what I gather from forums about the versions:
Xeno GC Version 1.1
- when you hold start while booting, the
screen shows BIOS v 1.01, but has NO MENU.
XenoGC Version 1.5 - XenoGC Version 2.0
- when you hold start while booting, the
menu says XenoGC Shell v 1.05, shows the
contents of the disc, and ALLOWS BOOTING
MULTI-GAME DISCS.
Unfortunately the Xeno GC Gamecube Modchip is a simple drive chip, not upgradeable by DVD.

The Doctor V64 is a development and backup device for the Nintendo 64 game system. It also can play VCD movies and is a 3D Sound generator for any device that is plugged into it. Perfect to develop your own games, demos and make backups of your games. It is CD Rom based and as many as 50 N64 Games can be backed up to one CD. The user just connects the V64 to a PC and inserts the game cartridge and downloads the game data to the PC where it can be played straight off the PC or burned to CDR

The CD64 is a software development backup device that sits underneath your Nintendo 64. It links to your PC through a parallel port. This way you can save games to your computer, back up the games you own with a CD-R, and play themon the CD64 without worrying about the original cartridge being damaged. It can also be used for development purposes.
Common usage:
you can back up your own game to your computers hard disk or store it on a CD-ROM by using a CD-R. Once you need to play the game, you can upload the game from your PC to your CD64 and run it on the N64. You can also load games off of CDs with the CD-ROM drive of the CD64 . Software developers can also write or modify their own games on a PCand upload them to the CD64 and test it.
Game cheat-code device:

Do the games play faster or slower when using the CD64 or Doctor V64?
Games transferred to the CD64 via PC or CD-ROM play exactly like the cartridge version. They do not play faster orslower.
Nintendo 64 Z64
The Nintendo Z64 is a development and backup device for the Nintendo 64 game system. The "Z" standing for Zip Drive. Unlike the other back up units the N64 games could be easily in seconds backup to standard 100MB Iomega Zip with this rad unit. The Z 64 suffered some minor manufacturing problems but warranty, back up service (Get the pun) and exchange was very good from the manufacturer. If you didnt have a PC or burner this unit was a godsend as the gamer just put the game cartridge in the slot and "presto" a backed up game in seconds.
